Does Home Theater Need Yet Another High Definition Format?
With Blu-Ray finally starting to become finally become the accepted format for high defintion recordings amongst the majority. It comes as some what of a suprise to many that Sim2 (a high end projector company) have decided to partner with digital media producer Entertainment Experience who produce products for the professional theatres, universities and commercial display markets.
They recently announced that the partnership will begin offering systems and motion picture content at better than HD quality to homeowners looking for the ultimate in big screen projection. This take things to a new level of high definition video for high end home theater lovers.
The Entertainment Experience Digital Entertainment Solution is not for those on atight budget but consists of a line of 3 chip DLP projectors, a Display Entertainment Center that stores, secures, manages and displays the “Beyond HD” content, and an Audio Video Signal Processor that allows home theater lovers with existing equipment to easily integrate their Xbox games, Blu-ray, HDTV and PCs.
It should be made clear this is really top of the pile stuff and Jim Sullivan who has spent 35 years in the cinema industry a former executive of Kodak Digital Cinema is the force behind the new system which he describes as the highest quality “All-In-One-System” available today.
The system was developed to overcome the issues with the scalability of pictures for larger screen projection which current high definition formats don’t manage very effectively
The motion picture content will contain over 4000 major titles from various studio and distribution partners, including Video Giants, Inc. It will be delivered at bit rates far superior to conventional HD in the future-proof DCI color format defined by Hollywood for professional cinemas.
It would seem this is only likely to appeal to real die hard HT fans and will be beyond the budget of most but for those with large screens, funds in the bank looking for quality HD this will be the answer to their prayers.
