This is thought to be around half a million TV units .It’s major competitors in this market are Sony and Samsung. Sony are expected to enter this market in a big way towards the end of spring early summer and with Samsung (the worlds biggest TV manufacturer) fighting for a good chunk of market share Pansonic will have to be on top of it’s game.

Morgan Stanley are predicting that sales of 3-D TV’s could be as high as 50 million by the end of 2012.This remains to be seen I still remain cynical as times are hard for such a high end premium to be launched.

Panasonic based in Osaka will be selling initially two models of 3D plasma TV the 50 inch version is to be marketed at around $4,800 and the 54 Inch version will be around a thousand dollars more. These products (or something very similar) will also be sold in the US towards the beginning of April this year.

Whilst this technology may have mass appeal it certainly won’t be accesible to the vast majority of home owners until prices start to fall some what. So early adopters of the technology whilst they might be popular with their friends they will be paying a premium price for the experience of 3D in the home.

In anticipation of the new 3D televisions becoming main stream in Japan some Japanese TV makers are looking in to possibilities of producing 3D TV programs but as for the rest of the worlds TV makers it remains to be seen if they will follow suit.If the cost of producing programs and movies for these TV’s remains prohibitive this could leave these manfacturers with very much an elitist product with only limited appeal in the mainstream.

This Sunday will be Valentines day so if you haven’t noticed already the prices of flowers and choc’s are going up faster than you stocks have recently.

So it might not be that much of suprise that the film pundits are predicting the star filled Valentines Day (get the connection) will be going down a storm at the box office this weekend.

But does that mean the film is any good I hear you ask well as far as the typical romcom goes it isn’t bad but not my favorite genre or even movie in it.

What do you mean you didn’t realise it was a romcom what else could it be on Valentines Day. Ok it could have been about a certain massacre but have heart for your lady and be romantic.

The movie is directed by Garry Marshall, the romantic-comedy master who directed such romantic classics as the Princess Diaries and Pretty Woman so if you are planning a trip out this weekend to the movies with your loved one chances are she has probably this movie on her mind.

Now come on guys I know you rather be watching reruns of last weeks Superbowl (unless you are a Colts fan) but with it being the weekend of Luv you are not likely to win than conversation.

Now I did mention this movie has a huge number of stars and future stars in it so you are probably expecting something good.Well I am sorry to say this movie is packed full of fluff and not much else but guys your girlfriend will most probably love it so grin and bear it.

It’s only one movie a couple of hours of your life.Sorry ladies but their aren’t many guys into this sort of movie.

As expected our expectations will be high because of the title and the cast but whilst this will fill the seats of the movie theater pretty much guaranteeing a financial success it won’t make it great movie.

Some movies filled with A list stars are able to deliver but all to often the quality of the movie is not equal to the sum of it’s parts.Films with famous names may lead to audiences expecting an awful lot and on occasions they are disappointed. On other occasions the movie seems to get lost in the brightness of it’s stars.

A movie like “He’s Just Not That Into You” also had success with lots of famous names; however, it wasn’t necessarily the best romantic comedy of all time. “Valentine’s Day” also comes with very high hopes, and audiences will expect it to deliver, putting more pressure on it than movies with one or two of their favorite stars.

The real proof will be after the excitement of a film called Valentines Day perfect for Valentines weekend wears off is will the box offices still be filled the following weekend when the critics have done their reviews and more importantly the most important reviewers of all the paying public.

I guess we won’t have long to wait…

Well I won’t go in to the plot but rest to say if you read complimentary reviews of this film they were probably paid to write them.

I have seen so many films on DVD and Blu Ray which bombed at the box office and on the whole a good proportion of them have turned out better than expected but I am struggling to think of one single reason why you’d buy this on DVD.

Most Werewolf films have always struggled a bit but with todays modern cinematic techniques they could have done so much better.

It really just seemed to go along with no real story and realtionships that seemed to make no sense at all. I couldn’t wait to see the ending credits. The weak score did nothing to lift this poorly concieved and directed movie and it felt like it was pounding in my ears.

To be honest I started to wonder if the hot dog stall in the foyer was busy….

If you like plenty of blood and guts (pretty realistic to be fair) and gratuitous violence combined with a very lose story line you’ll enjoy this otherwise I suggest spending a few dollars on rental would be the most you should even consider.

If the 2010 movie scene opens with this I am looking forward to things improving and I don’t expect I will be going on my friends recommendation for a movie night any time soon.

For those of you who went to see her in Las Vegas during the 4 year period you will know what I mean and for those who watched the DVD or Blu Ray of the concert you will have only experienced a just some of the magic that she and Dragone created. But hopefully it was enough to wet your appetite.

Tickets go on sale today at 11 a.m. for the first 54 performances of Celine Dion’s new show at Caesars Palace from March 15 through Aug. 14, 2011.

It was announced this week that the singer will be returning to Las Vegas in March 2011 to begin a further three-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, her home theater from 2002.

The new show designed exclusively for The Colosseum will premiere on March 15, 2011.

The show will center on capturing the romance of classic Hollywood movies and performed with a stunning visual presentation, and will feature 31 musicians, consisting of a full orchestra and band.

“I’m coming back home to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and I’m very excited about it,” Dion said. “With the orchestra and the band we’re going to be able to perform our songs like never before. The repertoire is going to be extraordinary … a mix of timeless Hollywood classics, along with all the favorites that my fans like to hear me sing.

It’s going to be a very beautiful show, and I think we’ll be raising the bar higher than we’ve ever done before. There’ll be some truly wonderful moments. … I can’t wait!”

Neither can I so if you are one of Celine’s fans or if you were like me fortunate enough to attend the Las Vegas concerts during the 4 years she was there let us know. I know I for one will be bakc there before this latest run is over.

This global credit crises is effecting everyone and many traditional retail businesses will be ill equipped to survive it.

What is happening is more and more people are starting to tighten their belts as the financial crises deepens (inspite of what propaganda our governments would have us believe).

But sadly this scenario is likely to become the fate of many small local hifi and audio video retailers across the world and even some manufacturers may find it hard to survive these challenging times.

But what is the real reasons behind this decline in the high street and local audio video retailer…

Perhaps one of the most significant reasons is that customers can now find quickly and from numerous sources, information about any product within minutes of a press release.

This sort of information and knowledge was once the exclusive domain of the high street AV specialist and the specialised AV magazine editor and gave them an elitist postion over the store selling in the same market place. This position appealing to the true AV fanatic or hi-fi buff who was prepared a premium for their service and advice.

But these days all customers including true AV nuts are far more price concious.Add on top of all that bad news plus the that many consumers are struggling to get once feely available credit and you needn’t wonder why things are looking so bad.

Almost inevitably the majority of customers faced with these dire circumstances are prepared to sacrifice the personal touch of the once loved high street specialist for the lower prices and convenience of buying online.

Many mainstream Audio Video stores and specialised equipment manufacturers simply can’t compete in the technological age of instant gratification and the purchasing at the lowest price at the click of mouse.

I and am sure many people like myself old enough to remember how much we used to love visiting the typical audio video retailer on the high street.

They were equipped with comfortable demo rooms set up to demonstrate the latest top end of audio video equipment which many real enthusiasts of audio and video woud aspire to owning and enjoy chatting for hours with knowledgeable staff.

Nowdays these sort of demonstrations are only available to a select few who are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend one of the few consumer electronic shows show held at various locations across the world.

The days of the demo room are tragically numbered and will be missed.

With the gradual growth of online bargain basement no frills websites sellling lower end equipment for a few dollars above wholesale there is little wonder the high street business is in decline and realistically there is little that can be done about it.

Soon our high streets and even to some extent our shopping malls will become filled with multi national and global brands as few small specialised retailers can compete in such a hostile environment.

With high overheads, staffing costs and in many towns parking at a premium the face of our high street could be changed for ever.

CES 2010 has shown us that the manufacturers want us to keep buying the latest and most innovative but no longer is about just quality and longevity and reliability. Most consumers are prepared to sacrifice these values for cheap and available now!

Only time will tell whether the high end manufacturers who sell in much smaller volumes than the global brands will survive this ever changing world in which we live in.But I for one will miss them and the retailers who sold there wares but then again I still enjoy listening to vinyl on my LINN so maybe I am just dinosaur.
