Is The Superbowl a good reason to buy a new TV

As we now know the two teams in this years Superbowl will be between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts who will be competing in Miami on the 7th February 2010 at the Sun Life stadium.
But is this a good time for a home theater upgrade surely it will mean manufacturers will put prices up as demand increases for big events such as the Superbowl.
Well normally I would say that you should never buy equipment at a time of high demand such as christmas or other holiday times as service will likely suffer and you could find that you get a substandard product.
But with the current cash crises you’ll find home theater bargains abound and what better excuse to buy one than to watch the Super Bowl XLIV.
I think this Superbowl could be exciting with New Orleans making an appearance for the first time in 45 years although the Colts are favorites.
Now that could be spectacle whether you watch on a LCD or Plasma or even a projector I have found there are some great deals on eBay (don’t forget check sellers carefully) and Amazon also seem to up their range of deals at this time.
Plus who can resist the half time entertainment and revelation of new TV advertisments which have become a unique opportunity for the manufactures to showcase their biggest and often controversial ads with massive budgets that only a giant audience like Superbowl can justify during these diffiuclt times financially.
Personally I hate commericals (who doesn’t) but some how they are as much part of Superbowl as Gatorade.
If you are having trouble convincing the other half on your purchase and you are old enough to remember them just remind them the half time interval entertainment is The Who with Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend treating to some nostalgia from the 60’s that might just seal the deal.
If not there is always next year?
